New Tokyo james SS17 Look Book review
“After a successful showing at the South African Menswear fashion week platform held earlier this year, British Nigerian designer Tokyo James launches the SS17 Look book shot in South Africa.
It showcases one of the strongest set of models I have seen in a lookbook to date. It’s the antithesis of the runway theory . Showcasing strong physicality and beauty in the male form. It’s a singular statement as much as it’s an aesthetic statement.
The combination of both ‘portraiture’ and movement in the photography juxtaposes a sense of being both still and restless. Coupled with a slogan ‘No One cares’ which may hit a nerve in the current social climate and conditions of the world, it makes for compelling imagery.
