Lukhanyo Mdingi is back with a new collection titled ‘Soulful’ with all the hallmarks that have made him a unique and standout talent in the South African fashion landscape.
Looking always to the essence of love and romance as a source of inspiration this seasons offering draws more on the idea of a slick soulful sensuality with a nod to eastern influences.
The aim was to create a coherent body of work that reflects a modern appeal through well designed, carefully crafted timeless pieces. The result is an amalgam of eastern inspired jackets and tops, sporty leisure type track (but not quite track) looks and wide-legged pleated pants all styled and adorned with afrocentric head pieces and accessories.
Presented in a powerful dark palette it combines Mdingi’s ability to achieve easy, understated refinement with elegant silhouettes.
In addition, with 100% pure silks, wools, linens & cottons used, all of which is locally sourced and ethically produced, these textiles became an imperative part in having a modern approach of considered and sustainable design.
The Lukhanyo Mdingi guy or gal naturally exudes a fluid, soulful elegance, not too timid to embrace the power of confidence.
For Mdingi this is a reflection of a contemporary fashion narrative , as expressed from the southern tip of Africa.
The Lukhanyo Mdingi collections can be found at Merchants on Long, Cape Town and The Gent Shop, Japan.
