Colder days and nights are here, that is at least for most of us in the Southern hemisphere.

Now is the time to start updating and adjusting your wardrobe.

Here are 10 key pieces, inspired by streetwear trends and the runways at fashion week, to help update your winter closet.

Puffer Jacket

Puffer jackets are all the rage in the fashion scene, coming in a variety of lengths and colours, with major detailing such as embroidery and writings. If you need to get only one thing this winter, it’s definitely a puffer jacket in colour.

The Biker Jacket

The season-less biker jacket has been a go-to jacket silhouette because of its forever wearability stature. Update your older version (iow the black one) with a lighter shade. Try a pastel shade.

The Beanie

Season after season the beanie keeps on striving to be the best winter accessory. It’s versatile, practical and gives you a bit of street cred.

Trench Coat

A winter/transitional season classic is the Trench Coat, first introduced to the market back in the First World War. This is one item sure to last beyond a season.

Statement Knit

Patterned or bold colour knit wear is increasingly stylish, and turns out an easy style differentiator. Keep it relaxed (read oversized), with puff sleeve detailing. Keep it real in natural, sustainable fibers like 100% merino wool, cashmere etc.

Romantic Dress

This was a silhouette that was always fit for Spring/Summer. Until a season ago when that ‘rule’ changed and Summer suitable dresses hit the Autumn/Winter runway shows .

Matching Suit

A matchy-matchy suit is notable and almost always striking. Easy to layer on top of.  And can be dressed up or down with high heels or sneakers.

Pleated Skirt

A move towards lady-like silhouettes such as midi-length skirts with pleat detailing and folds, have gathered a lot of attention on the streets and runways.

Sock Boots

Sock boots have made a very big impact in the footwear industry thanks to Balenciaga. Try whatever length suits you: high-thigh-high to ankle.

As luxury brands catch up… (to what we always knew)…comfort is the word on the street . There is no better #shoecomfort than a pair of sneakers.
